BACK TO TRAINING UPDATE 06/06/20

6 Jun 2020 by Executive Committee

On Wednesday the 3rd of June, the NFNL announced that Junior Football Netball Clubs will be able to return to training, in line with the current Government restrictions.

In order for Clubs to return to training they must submit a detailed COVID19 Safety Management Plan to local Council and the NFNL. Once approvals have been granted by Local Council and the NFNL training can begin.

The MJFNC is aiming for a return to training from Wednesday the 17th of June if all goes to plan. A training schedule will be advertised once confirmed and will be 45 min training sessions at set times on set nights.

The club is working through the many different aspects of the current environment with the aim of returning our Kids to sport in a Healthy and Safe Way. There are guidelines and restrictions from National and State bodies that we are following and must achieve.

At the moment, planning is focused on our requirements for return to training only. This has been broken into managing the kids, activities and equipment and managing our facilities. There are hygiene and sanitisation requirements as well as education and briefings for team officials to occur,
and sourcing and purchasing the resources required.

Once training begins, everyone from our Kids, their families, volunteers and Club officials will all have a part to play in ensuring we are successful. Some of our requirements mean additional tasks need to be completed by each team. To achieve this, we ask that all families assist whenever Team
Managers make a request.

At this stage there is no date for restrictions to ease further to allow full contact training or competition and therefore no announcement can be made by the NFNL on whether a competition season will occur. If this does occur, there will be many other considerations for our Club to consider such as an appropriate player registration system and fees for players, managing crowds, clubrooms and the canteen.

When training resumes, the Club facilities will be locked down other than the external access to toilets. We will be working on the AFL principle of Get in, Train, Get out and will ask families to park adjacent to their training area (which will be advertised), have players ready to train with their own
water bottles, sanitise their hands and sign the attendance register before taking to the field.

There will be no opportunity at the Club for having a kick with friends or family before or after training. Other current restrictions include no contact (maintain 1.5m), and limit training groups to 20 players at each end of the ground, with minimal coaching staff and equipment. Good hygiene must
be practiced and no one who is unwell or showing any symptoms is to attend training. Restrictions and requirements will be advertised in greater detail prior to training starting.

The AFL strongly encourages all club families to download the COVIDSafe app in order to expedite contact tracing, should an exposure occur.

By us all supporting the measures in place, we have greatest likelihood of success and should be able to continue to move forward and allow restrictions to be reduced even further before too long.
